At a glance

Flamingo Lifestyles is a Bengaluru interior-design, custom-furniture and turnkey-construction studio — a studio and workshop under one roof, running to the same standards since 2005. They didn't need a brochure website. They needed a platform: something that could sell online, run design projects end to end, invoice with GST, manage a team by role, and automate the conversations that hold it all together.

We built exactly that — a single custom system on a modern stack, with a multilingual, ecommerce-enabled public site in front and a full operations layer behind it, engineered to be discoverable across search engines and AI systems.

Client Flamingo Lifestyles, Bengaluru (founded by Praveen Kandalam, est. 2005)

Public site Multilingual marketing + ecommerce storefront

The client

Flamingo Lifestyles has crafted interiors, custom furniture and turnkey spaces from Bengaluru for two decades. Founded by Praveen Kandalam and established in 2005, it works end to end — from sketch to final coat — across four core services: Interior Design, Custom Furniture, Furnishing & Decor, and Turnkey Construction. Its work runs from private villas to office suites, and its ambitions extend beyond its own projects through an Atelier Network franchise-and-trade programme.

A studio operating at this scale generates a lot of moving parts: product enquiries, estimates, live design projects at different stages, invoices, payments, a team with different responsibilities, and a constant stream of client messages. Historically those live in a scatter of spreadsheets, chat threads, accounting tools and a separate website. The brief to Aapta Solutions was to bring them into one coherent, custom platform.

The brief: a platform, not a website

Most studio websites stop at showing the work. Flamingo's requirement went much further — the site had to be the public face and the operating system of the business:

  • Sell — an online storefront for furniture and décor, with real checkout.
  • Capture and qualify — estimate requests and enquiries that flow into a managed pipeline.
  • Run projects — a way to move each design engagement through its stages, visible to the whole team.
  • Invoice and account — GST-ready invoicing and basic accounting, built in rather than bolted on from a separate tool.
  • Control access — different people (owners, designers, site staff, finance) seeing and doing only what their role allows.
  • Automate the conversation — WhatsApp, where Indian clients actually reply, wired into the workflow.

Delivering that meant building an application, not installing a theme. Here's how it comes together.

The public experience

The front of the platform is a fast, elegant, multilingual marketing and ecommerce site built on Next.js and served from Vercel. It does the brand justice and the business work:

  • Services, told properly — Interior Design, Custom Furniture, Furnishing & Decor and Turnkey Construction, each as its own structured page, alongside a clear four-step process: Discover → Design → Build → Handover.
  • An ecommerce storefront — a products catalogue with Razorpay checkout, so furniture and décor can be bought online, not just browsed.
  • A projects portfolio — real recent work (villas, office suites) presented to win the next commission.
  • Lead capture that feeds the pipeline — a prominent Get an estimate path, plus WhatsApp and call, turning interest into a tracked enquiry.
  • The Atelier Network — a dedicated programme page opening franchise and trade partnerships.
  • Multilingual by design — internationalised routing so the studio can speak to more of its market.

The operations platform — the real differentiator

Behind the public site sits the part most studios never get: a custom operations layer that runs the business.

Project management with Kanban boards

Every design engagement is a project with stages, and the platform makes that visible. An advanced project-management system tracks each project's status and lays it out on Kanban boards, so the whole team can see — at a glance — what's in Discover, what's in Design, what's being Built, and what's ready for Handover. No more chasing updates across chats and spreadsheets; the board is the single source of truth.

GST-ready invoicing and basic accounting

Invoicing and money are built in, not outsourced to a disconnected tool. The platform generates GST-ready invoices and carries a basic accounting capability, so quotes, invoices and payments live in the same system as the projects they belong to — a direct line from a won estimate to a raised invoice to a recorded payment.

User management with roles and permissions

A studio has owners, designers, site staff and finance — and they should not all see the same things. The platform ships user management with extended roles and permissions, so access is scoped to responsibility: the right people get the right tools, and sensitive areas (finance, admin) stay protected.

WhatsApp automation

In India, the client replies on WhatsApp. The platform integrates the WhatsApp Cloud API, orchestrated with Integrately, to automate the right messages at the right moments — acknowledgements, updates and nudges — so communication keeps pace with the work without someone having to remember to send every message by hand.

The architecture

The platform is assembled from a deliberately chosen, modern stack — each piece doing the job it's best at:

  • Next.js on Vercel — the application and the public site, server-prerendered and edge-served for speed, with internationalised routing.
  • Firebase — the application database, giving real-time, scalable data for projects, catalogue, users and more.
  • Amazon S3 — dedicated media and static-asset hosting, so the heavy design imagery a studio produces is served from object storage built for it, keeping the app fast and storage effectively limitless.
  • Razorpay — payments and ecommerce checkout.
  • WhatsApp Cloud API + Integrately — the automation layer for client messaging.

The result is a system where the storefront, the project boards, the invoices, the accounts and the conversations are parts of one application — not a patchwork of disconnected SaaS tools with the studio's data scattered between them.

Fast and scalable by construction

Because the front end is a prerendered Next.js application on Vercel's edge, and the weighty design imagery is offloaded to Amazon S3, the public site stays quick even though it's backed by a full application — the pages a prospective client sees aren't waiting on the operations layer behind them. And because data lives in Firebase and media in S3, the platform scales with the studio: more projects, more products and more imagery don't force a re-architecture.

Engineered for discovery — SEO, GEO, AEO and AIO

A studio's next commission increasingly starts somewhere other than a Google search box. So we built Flamingo to be found across every layer of modern discovery — the approach we detail in our Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) 2026 guide:

  • SEO (search engines). Clean, server-rendered, semantic pages; internationalised URLs; and unusually rich schema.org structured data — the site describes itself as an InteriorDesigner and Organization, with Service and OfferCatalog markup on what it sells, Person data for its founder, and full address, geo and contact information. That's the difference between Google guessing what the business is and being told precisely.
  • GEO (generative engines). Structured, quotable content and machine-readable markup so engines like ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity can understand and cite the studio when someone asks for interior designers or furniture makers in Bengaluru.
  • AEO (answer engines). Direct, well-structured answers and entity data so answer engines can lift a clean, correct response — the services, the location, the process — rather than a vague paraphrase.
  • AIO (AI optimisation). The whole site is built to be legible to AI systems — assistants, AI Overviews and the agents that increasingly act on a user's behalf — through consistent structured data, clean semantics and content organised the way a machine reads it, not just the way a person skims it.

Together these make Flamingo discoverable not only on the results page, but inside the AI answers where more and more buying journeys now begin. You can check any site's AI-readiness the same way we do, with our free GEO readiness scanner.

Flamingo Lifestyles went from needing half a dozen disconnected tools to running the whole business — storefront, projects, invoices, team and client communication — on a single custom platform.

The takeaway

For a design-and-build studio, a website is the easy part. The hard — and valuable — part is the system behind it: the one that sells, tracks every project to handover, invoices with GST, keeps the right people in the right tools, and automates the client conversation. Stitching that together from separate SaaS products leaves a business's data fragmented and its workflow full of seams. A single custom platform removes the seams.

That's what we built for Flamingo Lifestyles — the most comprehensive of our recent engagements, alongside rebuilds for The Global Economics, Arun Sharma Guruji, Epic Gymnastics Academy, The Platos School and Nishka Skin & Hair Clinic.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Flamingo Lifestyles platform built on?

It's a custom Next.js application hosted on Vercel (multilingual, server-prerendered), with Firebase as the database and Amazon S3 for media and static-asset hosting. Payments run on Razorpay, and client messaging is automated through the WhatsApp Cloud API with Integrately. On top of that sit a project-management system, GST invoicing and accounting, and role-based user management.

Is it an ecommerce site or a management system?

Both — that's the point. The public side is a multilingual marketing site with an ecommerce storefront and Razorpay checkout. The private side is an operations platform: Kanban project management, GST-ready invoicing and basic accounting, and user accounts with roles and permissions. They're parts of one system, so a sale or an estimate flows into the same place the work is managed and invoiced.

How does the project management work?

Each design engagement is tracked as a project with a status, laid out on Kanban boards that mirror the studio's four-step process — Discover, Design, Build and Handover. The whole team can see what stage every project is at, so the board becomes the single source of truth instead of updates scattered across chats and spreadsheets.

Does the platform handle GST invoicing and accounting?

Yes. GST-ready invoicing and a basic accounting capability are built into the platform, so quotes, invoices and payments live alongside the projects they relate to — rather than in a separate, disconnected tool.

Why Firebase and Amazon S3 together?

They do different jobs. Firebase is the application database — real-time, scalable data for projects, catalogue and users. Amazon S3 handles the heavy design imagery a studio produces, serving it from object storage built for media so the application stays fast and storage stays effectively limitless.

How is WhatsApp used in the platform?

Through the official WhatsApp Cloud API, orchestrated with Integrately, to automate client communication — acknowledgements, updates and reminders at the right points in a project — so the studio keeps clients informed without sending every message by hand.

What does "optimised for SEO, GEO, AEO and AIO" mean here?

Four layers of discoverability. SEO is classic search-engine ranking (clean pages, rich schema.org data). GEO is being understood and cited by generative engines like ChatGPT and Gemini. AEO is being the clean source an answer engine lifts a direct answer from. AIO is being legible to AI systems and assistants more broadly. The site's structured data, semantics and content are built to satisfy all four.

Can you build a custom platform like this for my business?

Yes — combining a public site, ecommerce, project management, invoicing, roles and automation into one custom system is exactly the kind of platform we build. Get a tailored quote or read about an ongoing technology partnership.
