Engagement: Website rebuild & migration — unmaintained WordPress → static site Industry: Hospitality — hotel Stack: Hand-coded static site · Netlify + Cloudflare CDN · mobile-first Result: Faster loading, lower hosting cost, hardened security and a modern mobile experience
At a glance
Arafa Inn is a business-class hotel in Gandhinagar, Bangalore — a short walk from Majestic, the city's central transit hub. Its website had been built on WordPress and then left unmaintained for more than two years: unpatched, dated, slow, and quietly costing more to host than it should. An unmaintained WordPress site is also a standing security risk.
We rebuilt it as a fast, static website — hand-coded, served from a CDN, with no WordPress and no plugins — so it loads quickly, costs little to run, and has almost no attack surface.

The client
Arafa Inn is a luxurious business-class hotel in the heart of Bangalore, moments from Majestic (Kempegowda) and Gandhi Nagar — a calm escape in the middle of the city for business travellers and visitors alike. It offers a range of rooms — Standard, Deluxe Double and Superior Deluxe — alongside multi-cuisine dining, free Wi-Fi and the kind of warm hospitality that brings guests back.
For a hotel in a location this central, the website matters: it's where a traveller comparing options forms a first impression, checks the rooms, and decides whether to book. That website had stopped doing its job.

The starting point: a WordPress site left to drift
Arafa Inn's site had been built on WordPress — and then, as happens to a great many small-business sites, it had been left alone. For more than two years it went unmaintained: no core updates, no plugin updates, no theme updates. That neglect carries real, compounding costs:
- A growing security risk. An unpatched WordPress site is one of the most common things attackers look for. Every month without updates widens the gap between the site's software and the known vulnerabilities in it — a genuine liability for a business that takes guest enquiries.
- Slow, dated performance. Years-old WordPress, an old theme and stale plugins make for a heavy, sluggish site — exactly the wrong first impression for a hotel positioning itself as business-class.
- Hosting cost for no benefit. A WordPress site needs a proper hosting environment (PHP, a database, resources to run them) — a recurring cost the hotel was paying to keep a slow, risky site online.
- Fragility. The longer an unmaintained site runs, the more likely a plugin conflict or an expired dependency simply breaks something.
The hotel didn't need the complexity of a WordPress install at all. It needed its rooms, its location and a way to get in touch — presented quickly, safely and cheaply.
Our approach: go static
For a hotel brochure site like this, the right answer is a static website — the content rendered as plain, pre-built HTML, CSS and JavaScript and served straight from a CDN, with no database and no server-side software to maintain. It's the simplest architecture that does everything the hotel needs, and it turns every one of WordPress's weaknesses here into a strength.
- Hand-coded and lightweight. A lean, custom front end — a single stylesheet and a single script — rather than a theme-and-plugin stack.
- Served from the edge. Hosted on Netlify and delivered through Cloudflare's CDN, so pages arrive fast from a location near the visitor.
- Nothing to maintain, nothing to exploit. No WordPress core, no plugins, no database — so there's effectively no attack surface and no update treadmill.
The build
Tech stack
- Hand-coded static website — plain, modern HTML, CSS and JavaScript, with the whole front end shipping as a single stylesheet and a single script. There's very little for a browser to download or run.
- Netlify hosting + Cloudflare CDN — static files served from the edge: fast, resilient, and cheap (static hosting is a fraction of the cost of a WordPress environment, and often effectively free at this scale).
- Mobile-first responsive design — built for the phone a traveller is holding when they search for a room.
- A clear path to book — rooms and rates, a gallery, services, and prominent Book Now / Check Availability and click-to-call actions.
- Structured data + clean pages — so search engines and AI engines can read the hotel, its location and its rooms properly.
What a visitor can now do
- See the rooms quickly — Standard, Deluxe Double and Superior Deluxe, with a gallery that loads fast.
- Understand the location — how close the hotel is to Majestic and Gandhi Nagar, which is half the decision for a business traveller.
- Book or call in one tap — Book Now, Check Availability, or a direct call to the front desk.
The four wins of going static
This rebuild delivered exactly what a small hotel needs from its website, and nothing it doesn't:
- Faster loading speed. A lightweight static page served from a CDN loads far quicker than a heavy, unmaintained WordPress site — and speed is a first impression.
- Lower hosting cost. Static hosting removes the need for a PHP-and-database environment, cutting the recurring hosting bill dramatically.
- Improved security. With no WordPress core, no plugins and no database, there's almost nothing to attack or keep patched — the single biggest risk of the old site simply disappears.
- Modern and mobile-friendly. A clean, responsive rebuild that looks current and works properly on the phones guests actually use.
Faster on every device
A traveller searching for a room in Bangalore is almost always on a phone, often on the move. The old WordPress site made them wait; the static site doesn't. Because the pages are pre-built and served from Cloudflare's edge — with only a single lightweight stylesheet and script — they arrive almost instantly on an ordinary mobile connection, so the hotel makes a quick, polished first impression instead of a slow one. (The same performance discipline underpins every build we ship — see our note on website speed optimisation.)
SEO, GEO and AEO: found by travellers and AI alike
A fast site still has to be found — and for a hotel, that's a local search problem, increasingly answered by AI as much as by Google. We built Arafa Inn to compete on both, the way we approach every project in our Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) 2026 guide:
- Local-intent structure around how travellers actually search — "business hotel near Majestic Bangalore", "hotels in Gandhi Nagar Bangalore", "business-class hotel in Bangalore".
- Structured data describing the hotel, its address and its rooms, so Google and AI engines can read it as a real, bookable place rather than just a page.
- Clean, fast, mobile-first pages — the technical baseline Google rewards, and which the old unmaintained site couldn't meet.
You can measure any site's AI-readiness the same way we do, with our free GEO readiness scanner.
Outcome — before and after
| Before (unmaintained WordPress) | After (static website) | |
|---|---|---|
| Platform | WordPress, 2+ years unpatched | Hand-coded static site on Netlify + Cloudflare |
| Loading speed | Slow, dated | Fast, lightweight |
| Hosting cost | PHP + database environment | Low-cost static hosting |
| Security | Growing risk (unpatched) | Hardened — almost no attack surface |
| Maintenance | Update treadmill (ignored) | Near-zero |
| Mobile experience | Dated | Modern, responsive |
Same hotel, same hospitality — now with a website that's quick, safe and cheap to keep online.
The takeaway
Not every business needs WordPress. For a small hotel whose website needs to show its rooms, prove its location and take a booking enquiry, a static site delivers all the speed and security with almost none of the cost or upkeep — and it removes the single biggest risk of a neglected WordPress install: being left unpatched until something goes wrong. Matching the architecture to what the business actually needs is the whole job.
That's what we did for Arafa Inn — part of a run of performance- and cost-focused rebuilds alongside Inter Networkz, Flamingo Lifestyles, The Global Economics, Nishka Skin & Hair Clinic, Epic Gymnastics Academy, Arun Sharma Guruji and The Platos School.

Frequently asked questions
What platform is the new Arafa Inn website built on?
It's a hand-coded static website — plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript — hosted on Netlify and delivered through Cloudflare's CDN. There's no WordPress, no database and no plugins. This replaced a WordPress site that had been left unmaintained for more than two years.
Why move a hotel site off WordPress to static?
For a brochure-style hotel site, WordPress adds cost and risk it doesn't need: a PHP-and-database hosting environment, and a constant stream of core, theme and plugin updates that, if missed, become a security problem. A static site does everything the hotel needs — rooms, gallery, location, booking contact — while being faster, cheaper to host and far more secure.
Is a static website really more secure?
Yes. A static site has no WordPress core, no plugins and no database — so the usual ways a WordPress site gets compromised simply don't exist. There's almost no attack surface and nothing that needs constant patching, which is exactly the problem the old, unmaintained site had.
Does going static lower the hosting cost?
Significantly. Static hosting doesn't need the PHP runtime and database a WordPress site requires, so it runs on inexpensive (often effectively free at this scale) static hosting instead of a managed WordPress environment — cutting the recurring bill.
Is the new site faster, especially on mobile?
Yes. The pages are pre-built and served from Cloudflare's edge, with only a single lightweight stylesheet and script — so they load almost instantly on an ordinary phone connection, which is where most travellers search and book.
Can guests still book or get in touch easily?
Yes — the site keeps clear Book Now and Check Availability actions and one-tap click-to-call to the front desk, alongside the rooms, gallery and location details a traveller needs to decide.
Can you rebuild my slow or unmaintained WordPress site?
Yes — moving a slow, costly or neglected WordPress site to a fast, secure, low-cost static site is exactly this kind of project. Get a tailored quote or read about an ongoing technology partnership.
